IMHO Reviews Best Audiobook Services To Try This Year
Aventura, Florida -
Audiobooks have gained a lot of popularity in the past few years and according to experts they are likely to experience 25% growth until 2027. Convenience is one of the main factors that people take into consideration when switching to audiobooks.
"Audiobooks let you multitask. You can listen to them anytime and anywhere - on your commute to work, during a workout, while shopping, or cooking dinner. It is much more convenient than reading and you don't get distracted as easily," said Vitaliy Lano, the owner of IMHO Reviews.
Another advantage of audiobooks that many people mention is the cost. Audiobooks are usually more affordable than printed books, and some services even offer unlimited subscriptions that allow members to listen to as many books as they like for a low monthly fee. In the latest article, IMHO Reviews discusses the best services for audiobooks, both paid and free.
On the top of the list is Audible, the most popular audiobook and podcast service, created by Amazon. Audible has over 400,000 titles in its library making it one of the largest audiobook providers among its competitors. Audible has two main types of subscriptions. Audible Plus plan costs $7.95 per month and grants members unlimited access to all 11,000 titles in the Plus catalog including audiobooks, Audible Originals, audiobooks, and podcasts. Audible Premium Plus plan costs $14.95 per month and grants unlimited access to the Plus catalog and also includes 1 credit that can be exchanged for any book in the premium selection.
"If you are into audiobooks, then you probably heard of Audible. It is not the cheapest service on our list, but it is certainly one of the best ones. The library is really impressive, I don't remember ever having trouble finding a book I wanted to buy, and the prices are affordable. I also like that, unlike many services that only allow you to stream audiobooks, all the titles you purchase on Audible are yours to keep even after you cancel your membership," said Vitaliy.
The second audiobook service on the list is Scribd, which is often referred to as the "Netflix for Books" because of its subscription model. For $9.99 members get unlimited access to hundreds of thousands of e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and sheet music from the library. "Scribd is the most affordable audiobook service and if you love to read books or listen to audiobooks, then I recommend giving it a try. However, keep in mind, that Scribd only lets you borrow books and once your subscription is no longer active, you won't have access to them anymore," explained Vitaliy.
The third service that IMHO Reviews' article talks about is Blinkist. It is very different from other services on the list for two reasons. First, it only offers non-fiction titles, and second, all the audiobooks are condensed into 15-minute summaries focused on key insights. The cost of a Blinkist subscription is $7.49 per month and includes access to all 5,000 titles - or Blinks - in the catalog.
"All these services are great, and which one to choose depends on your needs. If you like to listen to audiobooks and want to build your own library over time then Audible is the obvious choice because it has the biggest collection of titles in all genres. Scribd is a good option for those who like both e-books and audiobooks, read a lot, but don't care too much about owning titles. It's affordable and the library is good, too. Blinkist is for people who have very busy lives and don't have much time to read but still want to learn new things on a daily basis. If you have a hard time choosing one service, then I would recommend signing for a free trial with each one of them and then decide afterward which one you prefer," said Vitaliy.
